| Thumping Front End Sound
I HAVE A 04 4X4 ,, AND HAVE EXPERIENCED A RATTLE TYPE THUMP,, MOSTLY WHEN TURNING,, HAVE HAD THE SQUARE PEG IN THE ROUND HOLE STEERING COLOUMN THING REPLACED 3 TIMES,, SEEMS TO KEEP COMING BACK,, BUT I AM NOT SURE THIS IS THE PROBLEM,, ANY SUGGESTIONS?
FYI,,  ALSO, HAVE THE TRUCK LIFTED A FEW INCHES, BUT THE THUMP WAS THERE BEFORE! |

| How many miles on the truck? After they changed the intermediate shaft, did it help for a little while? The last thing that was changed on my truck was an upper ball joint and the idler & pitman arms. It helped out for a little, but now the popping is back. (I don't seem to have the rattle anymore though) I will be making another trip to the dealer here soon to see if the can find something else.

| Do you have side bars on the truck step bars, sometimes when they are not alligned right when moving slow on pavement and turning the frame will twist slightly and the brackets will hit the frame, look for a rust spot under there where the bars are wearing.  | |

I have 5 gm trucks suburbans and 1 tons they all have had intermediate shafts replaced for this problem at least twice. Just got my wifes 03 suburban out friday for its third time replacement it only has 60,000 miles on it. | |
