I honestly think you guys are getting a little paranoid about "people watching you". There are privacy laws that prevent this from happening and is not the intent of OnStar. It is a safety feature that is intended to assist you in the event of an emergency. I'm sure they have better things to do than listen to some dude all by himself in his truck singing along to Christina Aguilera or Brittany Spears . And if you decide to add a programmer to it, that's on you to void your warranty. No one is stopping you from doing it but thats a decision and a risk you take on your own.

Bryan,

While I agree with you on the warranty issue if a transmission gets fried because of towing on max power on a programmer, there are many overzealous dealers who will try to deny an unrelated issue because a chip was installed.

I know I am an honest person, but the easiest way to keep a dealership honest is to not give them the opportunity to be dishonest. I think that is a valid reason for being paranoid about GM watching what programming we have in our trucks. We are much more likely to have our warranty voided fraudulently than to have our trucks stolen. Sad but true.

Very well said. Now the question remains. How do you stop the transmission of your daily truck life to GM?

Pull the fuse to the onstar system - many programmers recommend this when installing a tune anyway to prevent complications.

you could always just yank the antenna out and cut the wires then put it back in. It sure can't transmit any info without any power!!!! These days all the idiots are stealing either hondas, or escalades. With the price of diesel I doubt anyone would want to steal a truck unless they needed to tow a trailer REALLY bad!!

Here in the midwest, they are stealing diesels with goosenecks and the cattle trailers. Then they are stealing the cattle. What an easy way to get beef and a truck!
