Disconnecting Onstar?

Any clue on how to pull the plug on big brother Onstar transmitting all my private truck info to GM? Onstar collects diagostics and other info. I don't want my truck transmitting to GM.
Thanks

I think there is a fuse under the hood in the fuse block. Try checking there, or just cancel the service, thats what I did, even if it is free for the first 6 months like mine was you can still cancel it.

I tried looking for it on the schematics, but it doesn't show. I believe this is how GM knows that we're messin' w/ the ECM...

Are you suggesting that even if I haven't signed up for the service, they're still monitoring my truck? I sure hope not!!

OK, lets look at this................

Just because you canceled your subscription doesn't mean they cannot and/or are not monitoring your vehicle. The signal is always there. Not sure how they monitor be it cell signal or some other way. Someone has to be footing the bill and I don't think onstar will be doing this without being paid for it.

The next thing is does the vechile transmit all the time or does something have to request the information? If it is transmitting all the time then it would be nothing for someone to monitor it. If a request has to be made then that will cost some one something thus the subscription.

I am not sure how the system works but if you are paranoid then disconnect the feed.

How do i disconnect the feed? Having GM/ONstar monitor my truck's info is none of their business.

I would think just disconnecting the antenna should be enough. But not from the roof side do it on the other end. The wire going to the external antenna could have enough power to still send a signal.

Your truck is monitered by sat signal. They are not looking for a programer or anything like that, all they are doing is monitering you oil, air bags and crap like that hoping if there is a problem you will take it back to the chevy dealer to get it fixed. When your truck gets stolen and they cant find it cause you diconected onstar that would just suck. Any ways if your truck is older than 03 and you did not do the up grade you have nothing to be afraid of. The upgrade canges it from cell signal to sat signal.
