has anyone ever twisted their drive line in half like a cork skrew? i did last week backing over a parking block. was mine just weak or is this a common problem?

I heard of people twisting them when pulling but not by backing over something. However, there hollow inside so I can see them crushing.

yeah i was just going over a parking block at the grocery store not getting on it or anything. really a wierd deal! i was kinda surprised to see the inside is full of foam.

HMMMM??Just heard of that when someone was power braking/beating on..Anyhow I have a cc truck,it has an aluminum driveshaft,it is a Spicer,[one piece],is this a factory item?Not that I'm complaining or nothingDid maybe the previous owner add it,I git it w25,000 miles on it,anybody else have this too??

My ram is a quadcab and it has a 2-piece driveshaft. I thought only the regular cabs got a one-piece shaft???
Me too,I do have a crew cab and I was/have been puzzled by this,if no one's ever heard of it I can write the part # down and tomorrow gat a picture posted.But it is a one piece,that is what's got me guessing tooIt is a Spicer,and I know it's aluminum cause a magnet will not stick..I have only seen crews and excabs with hanger/center alignment carrier or bearing,people call em by different names,ya get the idea,neber seen a cc or xcab with a 1 piece...

The factory drivelines on these pickups are, for the most part, pretty tough. However, one little dent, and quite a bit of the torsional strength of it is lost. Rather than the torque being evenly distributed over the entire shaft, it ends up with a high stress area that will lead to failure, relatively easily. IMO odds are there was a small dent on it that you probably didnt even know about, and that led to the failure.

I believe the one piece driveline was a GM fix for a low speed acceleration shudder experienced on some CC pickups.
