Unhappy reset change oil light

How do you get the change oil message to clear? Just did my first oil change and the reminder light keeps coming on. Also, can it be changed from coming on at 3,000 mi. to 5,000 mi.?

Happy New Year to all.

Turn your key to the run position, and hit your gas fast 3 times. And to my understanding, the light came on based on how much you drove it.

It's in the manual. But turn the key to RUN with the engine off. Fully press and release the accelerator pedal slowly three times within five seconds. If the change engine oil light flashes for five seconds, the system is resetting.

Or if you have steering wheel controls press the enter key (bent arrow). Set yourself up to see oil life, then press and hold the enter button.
