Oil life question

Today I got in my truck and took 3 short trips, less than 10 minute trips each totaling less than 20 miles. Out of curriosity I've been watching different readouts on the display below the spedo. Today I was watching the "oil life" diplay. When I started out today it was "84% remaining" and by the time I got back home it said "76% remaining". I didn't drive my truck hard at all today and couldn't come up with an idea of why it had decreased so much in such a short period. Any thoughts? Thanks for any feedback.

2008 4dr, sb, 4wd bone stock with just under 1100 miles on it. I drive like a grandpa most of the time to try and get the best milage out of it.

That's odd, i was thinking that the oil life was just set up on 10000 miles. Might want to call the dealer and ask them.

Thats my understanding, I just can't find the logic of how the oil life will be degraded so much in such a short time, with the driving condions it was given. Guess it doesn't matter much at this point as I plan on changing the oil at around 2500 miles anyway.

Thats GM's genious maint I and maint II system. when they launched this we had all kinds of confused customers coming in. You can read it right from the gm books and still not understand it.

Mine fluctuates a lot as well. I just ignore it and do mine every 7 thousand. And normally, my percentage left is always at 20%-24% when I do change it.
