Tachometer f***ed?!

Was cruisin on the highwayat 70mph, decided to jam it full throttle up to the max speed (95mph when my governer kicks on). About 5 mins later, pulling off the highway and parking the truck, i noticed the tachometer was reading about 2.5k too high.

In effect, i was idling the truck, engine at normal idling rpms, but it was reading about 3.2k on the tach (approx).

Turned the truck off, and the tach stayed at about 2.5k with the engine shut down. Started again, and it moved up to about 3.2k idling. Did about a day of driving after that, and the engine is working fine, gas mileage is fine, no off-kilter effects on the driving itself, but the tach is still way off....

Anybody else have this happen?
