I drove a load of Boy Scouts to Atlanta and back last weekend to go rock climbing at Atlanta Rocks. Half the trip was at 65 MPH and half at 70MPH. At 65 MPH with the cruise control on I was getting 21mpg, at 70 MPH, 20mpg. When the emissions system started to burn out the DPF the mileage on the computer slowly dropped about 2 mpg and slowly crept back up after. I assumed it was cleaning out the DPF when the mileage started to drop because nothing else changed.

The truck has 7500 miles on the odometer.

I have just over 17K on my truck. When driving the truck without a trailer Highway (70 mph) I get 19 - 22 mpg. When driving around town it drops to 14 - 16 mpg, and with my trailer (7.5 foot wide, 16' enclosed cargo trailer) it drops even further to 10 - 12 mpg (highway at 70 mph). I have noticed as I get more miles on the truck, the mpg improves. I hand calculate the mileage at each fill up and it seems like the regen occurs about once a tank. I hope this helps,

John K

not trying to call you out, but have you tried to hand calculate your mileage? I know some trucks get better than others. How many miles to a tank do you usually get and what is your configuration of the truck. I have found that the DIC is off by a little bit. Of course if your truck is completely stock...I can see the DIC being a little more accurate. I don't want to start an argument, just want more information on your mileage.

The mileage at the different speeds was hand calculated, every drop of fuel in the truck is logged and calculated. I referenced the drop in MPG during the trip as an indirect method of capturing the decreased fuel economy when the system is in the regen mode. So far the on board computer runs about 5% off what I hand calculate.

The DIC was saying 11.6 MPG city driving @ 8200 Mi. Hand calculation on two last fills came to 14.8 MPG. The weather has been real cold for the last six weeks so I can't b--ch too much.

I think when I reset the DIC MPG the readings went to s--t. Not sure if the MPG is supposed to be reset?????

Not gonna complain any, the truck runs just great!!!!

By the way, Painted J Farms, dump the K&N filter. Doesn't clean as well, screws with the DIC and voids your warranty. My oldest son manages a GM dealership and I checked out mods VS warranty with the Service shop. GM will toss you in a heart-beat!

I am getting a around 12MPG hand calculate. Alot of stop and starting at Work (General Contractor). Hoping once the motor breaks in a little more the MPGs increase 1900 miles. Heard the Edge chip gets you 4 MPG increase right away.

Any disputes from you Juicers?

I have a 08 dually I have gotten any where from 7.5 to 11.5 mpg as long as I have figured it out right usually fill up half tank my average is around 10 that is 180 miles to 18 gallon fuel. I hope am doing it right. Waiting for my edge to come in to see what happens. I was on 70 yesterday loaded about 14000lbs and got 7.5 running 65 to 70 rpms was around 1500 to 1800 6th gear trying to maintain speed any grades it would drop to 4th and spike to 3000 to 3500 I used to pull same hills same load with my ford in 5th "manual" and got 8 mpg had a juice w/attitude on level 3 strait exhaust. mileage sucks for all of them. Should I put a bmrp dpf back system on or is it just a waste of cash. thanks
