Not sure, they successfully punched the door lock gaining access to the lock rod but something must of spooked them. Nothing was taken either. I guess I got lucky.

This same thing happened to my mom's 08' tahoe. Luckily the only thing stolen was a pair of nice sunglasses, and not the millions worth of financial info that she had in the car. Now, she doesnt carry anything of worth in her car anymore.

I have them on another truck. i have one that kills the fire to the plugs (carb/gas motor) and one that kills the juice from battery to starter.

how does the jimmy jammer work?
i can not tell from the pics other than it appears to be sheet metal plate that goes around the lock cylinder.

and thanks for telling us about your experience.

My truck if I unlock it with the key the alarm goes off? I found out the hard way when I got my truck.
So I have to use the remote and as far as I know that is how it left the factory, 2008 chevy ltz.

Strange. Earlier models are not this way, until you remove a wire.

The jammer just prevents screwdriver penetration. Turning the lock with a screwdriver, at the side of the lock, is the most popular method to fool vats.

Jimmi Jammer

The Jimmi Jammer is basically a steel plate between the back of the door handle and the lock rod that goes down inside the door to the locking mechanism. If a thief punches the lock with a screwdriver the tumbler can be rotated inside the broken area of the door handle which in turn will move the lock rod and unlock the door. And in my case it does disable the factory alarm! If you look at the photos the lock tumbler is recessed into the round plastic area on the back of the door handle, and the only thing that keeps it from falling into the door when you put your key into it is a clip! The clip is the size of a large paper clip! Come on GM! I put my lock tumbler back into the handle using PC7 (like JB weld) to secure it better. If you want to see just how vulnerable these door locks are just take the door panel off and take a look. I was shocked to say the least.

Here is a link to a thread I made for the LMM door panel removal. It's easy to do:
