Transmision skid plate

I searched and could not find the answer. I just purchases an 09 Crew Cab LTZ dmax z71, and have a question. The z71 package says it comes with skid plates, but the transmission is wide open... the filter looks to be in a very vulnerable spot. should the z71 package have a tranny skid plate???

thanks

Well, the follow up question would be, has anyone ever knocked the filter off? It looks to be in a very bad spot??

ive never heard of anyone doing that...it is within the frame rails...and higher up then front end components so you would basically have to nail a stump and destroy the whole front undercarriage of your truck before it go to the filter

Great to know. I just sortof bent down and looked, and it looked lower that the frame. good to know... love the truck-- I traded an 05 dodge cummins crew 4x4 six speed manual for it... cant wait to hook a heavy trailer and compare em.

"your doing it worng" if you knock that filter off a brand new truck! but yes the Z71 package is worthless, look and see how much that Z71 sticker cost you, then do like i did and remove said gay worthless sticker!
