Weak tie rod ends???????????????

I have been told by several ford boys that the tie rod ends are the same ones used on the 1/2 ton truck and bend very easy is this true? This spring i'm going to put a leveling kit on it with larger tires same rims will this compound the problem. And which kit should i use the one with just the new torsion keys or should i buy the kit with new a-arms,torsion keys and shocks.Going for looks only minor off road use and i want to best ride possiable like factory would be great. Thanks for any advice i could get!

I don't know if they are the same as the half tons, but ya they bend and break easy, just get on youtube and type in "duramax breaks" or look around here and you'll see. But its upgradable, i'm gonna do mine shortly.

You can either buy sleeves that go over the inner tie rod and keep them from bending or breaking or you can upgrade to HD tie rods there are a few different ones to choose from.

Fabtech and Cognito are the two most popular heavy duty aftermarket brands. They are around $250 for a set. Or you can get the tie rod sleeves for around $100. Alligator Performance, Performance Truck Products and Meyers Performance should carrying them. They are also on Ebay but you will pay slightly more with shipping.

I think your buddy is partially right, the inner tie-rod is the same, but the outer is different. Either way the a stupid small and one of GM not so great ideas. Heck I had my father in laws F150 in my garage and while I was under it I compared the new "stocker's" ones I bought for mine to his and his were bigger

Sleeves and cognito's idler/pitman arm braces made a tremendous difference on my truck.
