Weird Electrical Problem

Hello All,

I have a 2007 2500 HD 4X4 Crew Cab (New Body Style, LT2 Package) with a duramax and allison trans. The truck has about 8K miles on it.

It has a weird electrical problem which I want to research before I take it back to the dealer and have them tell me that they can't figure out what's wrong with it.

Occasionally the truck mysteriously goes into tire learning mode when I reverse out of the big garage at work. The exact sequence of events is that shortly after starting the truck (while in the big garage at work) I pull forward out of my parking spot, and then reverse about 50 feet back through the garage door. While reversing the back-up sensor chirps once as I go through the door, then once outside I put the truck in park so that I can get out and close the door, when suddenly the truck's horn beeps twice and the information thingy says "Tire Learning Active" a few seconds after I put the truck in park. While reversing, I'm simply looking in my mirrors, and most definately not pressing any buttons anywhere. This is the only place and situation it ever does this. It does it almost every time I back out of this one particular garage at work.

Also this last time it did it, I noticed that the driver's side amber parking lights were much brighter than the passenger side. The passenger side was not dim, just the driver's side lights were really (unusually) bright. Also, the parking lights would not turn off no matter what I turned the switch to. And, yes I know that turning the knob all the way to the left will shut them off normally.

One last thing, it only does this when the trailer hitch is off and the parking assistant is on.

As you can see this problem is too weird for me to make up.

Any sort of heads-up before I go to the dealer would help.

It's just that an electrical problem on a new truck is very irritating.

Thanks in advance

Hello and welcome to the forum!

Well theres a couple possibilitys.. With the tire sensor. Have you changed or got new tires lately? If someone who didnt know how the sensors work worked on your truck they could of harmed them.

Have you had any other mods dont to your truck with the wiring? On older trucks when you put the wrong bulb in the wrong place ANYWHERE on the truck it would make the lights act funny. Also maybe somone has the running lights and parking lights in the wrong hole? That is a weird problem on a new rig.

No, I haven't done anything at all to the truck except add a fold-a-cover. That's it. It is exactly the same as it came from the factory. The tires have not even been rotated yet, nor have I ever had a flat. All I have done to the truck itself is change the oil.

I forgot to add that after it went into Tire Learning Mode, I shut it off and restarted it, then everything seemed to work as normal. The lights went back to nornal brightness and I was able to shut them off.

Any Ideas?

I don't know but could it be some RF signal in the building?
Don't the tire sensors work on an RF signal?
Seems if it only happens in this building that it could be
something strange like that. Just my 2 cents. Hope you find it.

I agree with bama-man it could be a weird signal or maybe some ghosts in your truck.

Hmmm.. When my truck was brand new I had some problems with my interior lighting and some functions. I took it to my buddy at the dealer ship. He updated my computer and I havent had a problem since. There are all kinds of body control modules on your truck. Id take it to the dealer and see if they can check and reprogram your module possibly.
