Sirius radio

Hi,

I'm new to the forum and can see this is going to be a great site.

I just took delivery of my 2008 crewcab 4X4 LTZ. I really like the truck and can't wait to take it on my first camping trip.

The question I have is that it came with the factory XM radio and that service really sucks in my area. I had a Sirius radio in my old truck and was wondering if there is a kit or some sort of adapter to get Sirius on my factory head unit.

I have searched the web and see that some people have done it with other GM vehicles but haven't found anyone that can tell me if it will work with my 2008.

If anyone has already done this or has any info that would be great.

Thanks, John

The service has nothing to do with your "area". It's the same sevice no matter where you are beacuse your signal comes from a satellite. You get the same songs no matter where you are.

You can get bad service in certain areas.......I had it for 3 months....and we live in PA with alot of mountains and trees, I was lucky if I had service for more than 30 seconds at a time. Then we took a trip to South Carolina and never lost service once......so you can actually have bad service..

That adapter is specifically for a factory GM head unit with built in XM to covert it's capability to Sirius. Sounds like you have an aftermarket radio. If it has the ability to control a satellite radio then you would need a different adapter. If it doesn't have any satellite radio capabilities then you would need an entire satellite radio set up and feed the audio through your head unit via a FM modulator or one of the other methods.

I just talked to the techs today and it seems the SIR-GM1 won't work on the new 2008 radios. They are working on a new design but didn't now when it would be available.

If anyone hears anything different let me know.
Thanks, John
