weight distributin hitch on 08?

Is the stock hitch a weight distributing hitch? The 05 gasser I had did not sag nowhere near as much as this 08 LMM does. Is the suspension weaker in the rear end or what?

No its not. I dont know bout the suspension but I wouldn't think it be any softer as long as they are both 2500s or 3500s.

A weight distributing hitch can be used with the hitch on the back of out trucks. What makes it weight distributing is the bar/ball assembly that is slid into the hitch. Most weight distibuting hitches have tension bars that attach to the hitch and to attachments that are installed on the trailer. If you look on the internet you should be able to find several diffrent ones. You can also expect the price for a basic wieght distributing hitch to start at around $200 or more.

They do make a big difference in control and ride. A lot of the bouncing is elminated/reduced and the rear end dosen't sag as much.

I have done a 2" lift in the front of my 2500HD 4x4 CC Short bed Silverado Z71 LTZ... And Firestone Airbags over the rear axle in a kit... This and heavy duty shocks (RAW) all around... Now I have been towing about 4 tons so far, with about 700 lbs or so ball weight, and there is none of the hobby horse or sagging.... AT ALL... This was a relatively inexpensive upgrade if you are doing big towing and it seems to work well. You can see picture of the lift and airbags on my Bushtracker Owners Forum at Bushtracker Forum :: Index in the Category TIPS ON TOW VEHICLES....

We are relatively experienced Experts in big time towing in harsh enviornments in the Outback of Australia, and you are welcome to the free forum to see the pictures. This is not an infomercial, yes I am the Director of Bushtracker, a Manufacturer of Outback Caravans (4x4 trailers), but we do not engage in sales, this is an information Forum for Owners and Enthusiasts.. And besides, I am solid Booked out for Orders until June 2009 Deliveries. Never mind I could not ship one to you economically anyways so this is not a commercial plug, trust me...

This is here to help you and I thought you might like to see the pictures of the LMM 2" lift (it needs for bush work) and the air-bag installation in the back which is cheap and solves the suspension issues and heavier shocks for bounding hobby horse feel control in undulating roads...

Kind Regards to all from Australia, lone Ranger

ty. I just found it odd that this one sags so much more. I don't believe my 05 2500hd gasser had a weight distributing hitch on it and there is an incredible difference in sag. There is not much hop, actually MUCH less than my 05 gasser and the control is fine, was just worried about it sagging so much

I tow less weight, but when I hook up my 28' TT there is no sag at all. I do have a weight distributing hitch, but even before I hook up the load bars, there is no sag, the truck hardly drops at all. I have only about 500# tongue weight though.

I don't think mine drops nearly that much, but I'll measure it next time I hook up. I might be talking out my ass.
