GMC IBC failure

I have an 08 Siera 2500HD. The factory installed trailer brake control does not recognize the trailer is attached. Dealer said there is a problem with the OHMS and there is nothing they can do. suggested I have an aftermarket control installed. Anyone else have this issue?
