| Cut differential when installing lift kit?
I recently purchased an 08 gmc 2500 hd. Im looking to install a 4" Rancho lift but I have been told you have to cut the differential in order to do so. Is this true? If so are there any drawbacks? I dont want to screw my truck up. I guess I get a little leary when I have to start cutting my brand new truck. Please advise. |

Some cutting is required for the crossmember, but no mention of axle cutting.

| Yes you need to cut the upper diff ear. There is a replacement ear made by Cognito Motorsports if you ever need to re-install it.

| Ya there is a ear you gotta cut off. I dont think theree are any draw backs. I had to do it to my 1/2 ton I instaled a lift on. IIRC I think a company makes a ear that you install to work with the lift kit.
