what is the purpose for the muskett exhaust on the 07.5 - 08 duramax diesels, they are rediculous. im cuttin mine off and weldin on a 5" mbrp exhaust tip! COME ON

It is for coolling purposes, and if you cut it off they will void the warranty on the exhaust. Some people can get tips and they put them on the musket.

If you don't like the looks of it you would be better off getting a DPF back Exhaust so that you don't void the warranty and the exhaust gets propper cooling.

During regen the exhaust temps reach 1400 degrees. Cut the muskett in the middle and add a tip from there. You need that venturi to cool the exhaust so you don't melt the car next to ya.

True That!! You exhaust temps coming out that musket (even though its ugly) can reach very high temps and cause property damage to someone else.
Leave the modifications of that to the pro's (Banks, AFE, MBRP, ect) they put a lot of money into research and development for the purpose of protecting them and you from causing damage to your vehicle or something else.
