Not so light Chev

Here is what my 2008 extended cab 4x4 3500 dually weighs with a full tank, 5th wheel hitch on, and me ( 185 lb )
Front axle....4431 lb rear axle.... 3483 lb
Total weight is 7914 pounds
I have an 11400 GVWR so I have only 3486 pounds of legal payload left. With an 8200 LB rear axle, this baby will handle a lot more than 3500 pounds but that is the LEGAL payload.

Now correct me if I am wrong but a 2500 HD with the options I have has got to go at least 7000 pounds./ I can't see two extra wheels and a little wider body weighing even 500 pounds extra let alone 900 pounds.

The 2500 HD will have a 9200 GVWR and this would leave only 2200 pounds of legal payload. My 5th wheel has a pin weight of 2600 pounds and I see many units like mine being pulled by 2500 HD Chevs. They have to be at least 400 pounds overweight even before the passengers get in the truck.

Are the new models heavier than the older models and why did I read so many posts in the Ford forums about how light the Chevs were.
My 05 Ford F350 4x4 V10 was 200 pounds lighter than my new Chev. It was a V10 gas and if was a PSD, it would have been 300 pounds heavier but it was also a crew cab long box. If my truck was a Crew Cab, it would have to be heavier so if anyone has weighed a truck like mine in a crew cab model, I would like to see the weights.

Bottom line, the Chevs are not light trucks anymore and so far this one does everything better than any Ford I have ever owned. Steers better, brakes better, rides better, AC cools you down quicker, heater heats you up better, seats are far superior, actually heat your back as well as your butt. What was I doing driving Fords for 35 years !!!!

My 2500hd weighs in at around 7500. Don't worry about it. I think the DOT has better thing s to do than give tickets to people pulling campers and being about 500lbs overweight.

When I went to get a ton of coal last time, my truck, half tank of gas, with me in it, weighed in at 7,300 I think. It was either that or 7,400.

If I'm not mistaken, when you load the bed, doesn't the front axle take some of the load also? Just a thought.
