2012 fuel filter relocation
Hello everyone. Newbie here so please be kind. I transport cross country so im having to change fuel filters about once a month and the factory location is a pia due to having to take the inside fender cover off. Does anyone know of a kit or a way to relocate it to a more accessible place and not throw a dtc.

someone makes a trap door for the inner fender, sorry dont remember who....havent heard of relocating the stock setup but some guys install a lift pump with filters (like myself) and you can buy an empty cap that replaces stock filter

How many miles are you getting on a filter? The current Delco filters are lasting MUCH longer than the previous versions.
In any case the wheel well filter access cover/door makes changing the filter easier.

Most diesel aftermarket outlets will have the trap door in stock, use one of the site sponsors of your choice. Makes changing the fuel filter a 5- 10 minute job. They also have a special socket to re and re the WIF sensor at the bottom of the filter, instead of useing channel lock pliers and risk damaing the sensor, only use the socket to remove the WIF, hand tight going back onto the filter is all you need with the o-ring seal, and relatively low pressure at filter. You should be getting 50,000 kms (30,000 miles) out of the improved filter with your type of driving.

Something to also consider is using a nickname or under ground diesel adaptor and use a cat 1r0750 filter and put in a base in the back for a cat 1r0770 water separator. The water separator is 3 micron absolute and the filter is 2 micron absolute. The filter which would be under the hood could go for around 40-50k miles. Water separator could be changed easy under the truck. Just another thought.
