Trouble keeping prime w/ ADP adapter

I installed ADP filter adapter with no problems. Used truck for 2 days then at the end of second day having just used it an hour earlier - started than ran out of fuel. I took everything apart making sure it was all tight. Truck ran for about two weeks now then did it again. I just have to bleed thru the injectors and it works fine. This only seems to happen when I've just used the truck (1-3 hours previously) I did install the filter head spacer and I thought I remember reading concerns about heat.

Truck has ~10,000 miles so I didn't think I needed to rebuild the filter head.

Another question, how many o-rings are on the ADP adapter? I saw a pic of the nicktane and it had an o-ring on the threaded nipple for the filter but not on my ADP adapter.

Any help would be appreciated.

I had a similar issue with my nicktane unit. The defect is not in the ADP adapter, I know they pressure test them and have not had any issues. The issue is the stock fuel filter head. I rebuilt mine twice and the son of a bitch still leaks, needless to say I have a ADII in my garage I will be installing next week and deleting it

I installed my ADP adapter with Cat filter on Saturday morning and ran fine all weekend. This morning I start up to go to work and it idles maybe 5 seconds and shuts off. I had to pump the primer until it got hard, then restarted the engine. Made it to work fine, but I am worried it won't start again when I leave work.

DMAX fuel filter heads suck ass. I decided against trying to put lipstick on a pig and trying to retain it and am just doing away with that POS

Are you running other engine mods?

If not, what trouble were you having with the stock filter?

The other responders have non-LML's in their sigs, presumably also modded.

Definitely need this issue resolved. Truck would not start after work either. Had to prime again just like this morning. Worked just fine before the adapter install, so it looks like I'll be switching back to stock.

switch it back to stock. I wasted way too many hours of my life fighting it. Your filter head is trash. And it's going to cost more to replace than the adapter. Unless it just needs rebuilt, but if it wasn't leaking with stock FF then I highly doubt that is your issue

I never tried to rebuild my filter head, even though I hear its easy, I fixed all my starting and dying problems with my ad-II. Apparently they can leak air, but when pressure is applied (via lift pump), still not leak diesel. I have no external diesel leaks, hasn't died since lift pump!
