spent the night at the dealer and so far, they are thinking head gaskets. more test to come monday along with pulling glow plugs, etc. I'm not happy, brand new truck... hopefully hear from GM rep after mondays test.
Nope. Don't get your hopes up about getting a new truck or a new motor even. They get a few opportunities to fix it before you would have to start a lemon law claim to get it bought out.
4th time its been to the shop for the coolant issue. if they fix it, should i be getting an extended warranty? should i be putting head studs in it if they will let me?
After the third time that the vehicle's issue was not resolved and the customer is not satisfied a written certified letter is to be sent to gm stating the issues and they have one more chance to fix the issue. If it is not fixed they can buy back the vehicle for purchase price or replace with comparable model. This must all be done before the first 24 months of ownership
Thanks for the info everyone. Will see what happens after Mondays test. Its a major inconvenience as I'm working on the road and use my truck daily. If it's repaired I'll always have this issue in the back of my head
well, long story short. the head gaskets are blown. said there was a bulletin for poorly made gaskets and I apparently got a set. anyone else heard this? could anything else involving the motor cause the head gaskets to go bad?
Well at least you know the problem now.
Hopefully they have you fixed up very soon and you don't have anymore issues!!
If you see the bulletin I know lots of us would like to see it.
Wow. I have be a 'GM' guy for my entire driving career. You spend $50k on a truck you expect a quality product. I remember when GM'S saying 'a mark of excellence' was quality. What now? Good luck and keep us posted.
I would be making sure they check the deck of your heads, heard a lot of ps 6.0 heads that where just thrown on without checking them, they ended right back in the shop
I just talked to my GM buddy and he said he does not see a bulletin for bad head gaskets. Once you get the bulletin get the DOC ID # it is typically 7-8 characters printed on the top of every page of the bulletin. They might have a number but it does not look like they are being truthful.
I'm new to the forum my new duramax has 6500 miles on it and I had the same problem bad head gaskets should get mine back wensday took one week for them to get the gaskets and two weeks to change them they checked my heads and block made sure of it and they r fine
working on getting the "bulletin".... they will be starting tear down hopefully tomorrow am. said they have to order the gaskets after the heads are off to confirm which ones are needed? I believe I've heard that before.
Yes it is a 2015 the head gasket on mine was blown when I bought it brand new had low coolant warning next day and it took back to dealer and it took 6500 miles and 4 trips to dealer for them to find it I hope u have better luck than me they had my truck for 3 full weeks
