That's not a picture of a 6.7 Cummins. That's clearly a gasser. You can see the plug wires right above the manifold on the one side and the valve cover is on the side. It looks like the exhaust merges making the engine a V8 and not an I6 like a Cummins.

2 more gallons

You should be able to go 5,000-7,000 miles on a full tank of DEF
I asked my dealer how much DEF they put in during PDI, they said 2 gallons, my guess is that each dealer handles PDI requirements differently. Based on your info, that means I drove off with 4 gallons of DEF. I understand there is no way to confirm how much DEF is remaining except when you get the warning, is that correct?

Yeah... looking at it more closely (the pic comes up waaaaaaay bigger on my work screen than it was in the tiny pic in the article in the mag) it doesn't look like a Cummins at all, despite the caption (see link):

same problem

My new duramax started giving me the same message at 600 miles total. The dealer said nothing was wrong. At 1500 miles it said 850 until empty and another dealer said the first had forgotten to fill the EF tank. They put it 2 1/2 gallons of fluid. At 1900 miles it said 1100 until empty and a 3rd dealer said there was a known problem with no solution. They put in 1/3 gal of fluid and reset the message. Here I sit. Anyone got a solution?

Guess I will buy it from Park Place Mercedes until I find a better alternative.

How did you make out? Did it rest by itself? Did you have the update/reset performed?

Yes, I had the reflash of the computer, with draining of the tank. I have only 700 miles since then, alto I am putting another 800 on in the next 2 days. No recurrence yet. You might want to look on Diesel Place forum under "DEF problem" as there are about 30 pages dedicated to this problem. I gather from that I am not out of the woods yet, altho the dealer doesn't really own up to there being a problem.

I bought some down here in Yuma, AZ at O'Reilly's auto supply. Paid $4.95 for a US gallon. I am heading back to Canada in April, so will take 6 or more gallons home with me as it sure the heck is a lot more expensive in Canada.
