2013 2500 HD 4x4 DMAX MPG Question

I purchased my 1st 2500HD, 4x4, crew cab, Dmax last Tuesday. I love it, it's all that and more! My gift to my self for my 30th B-Day. Upgraded from a Nissan Cube. Lolz

Anyway, I'm looking to increase my mpg. Has anyone used http://performancechipsnow.com ?

If possible , list the parts you use, and the increase in mpg.

Just got my first duramax the other day to. I was also wondering about snow performance because there was a thread on here that was debating if it would void the warranty or not. Don't think i ever went back to the thread to see how it turned out tho.

Those chips are junk, don't waste your time.

The only way you're going to see real gains is if you ditch the DPF and consequently your warranty.

Just wondering what kind of mileage are you anticipating?

I anticipate 18 MPG maybe 19 when I break it in. I use my truck as a daily driver. I don't carry or tow any loads. My goal is to get 700+ miles out of one tank.

After a week of driving I've racked up 1000 miles. I'm getting an average of 17.2 according to the truck readout. 800 miles of mixed city /freeway ( clear skies, high winds in all directions, and rain), 150 miles driving on harsh dirt roads ascending and descending grades. 50 miles of 4x4 high, crawling back roads.

Is there a rolling mpg readout on the truck? Instead of showing the average mpg. Is there a readout displaying current mpg? Example: if I take my foot off the gas while on the freeway, the mpg increases from 16 to 60? I know ford has this feature does GM?

there should be an instant on the DIC. But i would no pay any attention to what the dash says. they are pretty far off of the actual MPG. mine tell me i get 18 avearge, hand caculated i get about 16. even before my 35s.

Hummm. I figure it was off, but not that off. Wow, GM get it together already.

If you bought a 7,000 lb. truck for a daily driver with lots of short trips then forget about your mileage and enjoy the truck.

I get 19 MPG with my 2011 2500HD 4WD truck empty and 14 MPG with a 4,000 lb. load in the bed. My daily driver is a Prius sedan that gets 45 MPG on regular gas which costs 20% less than diesel.

I would not put 4000 lbs. in the Prius but I also do not expect great mileage from the heavy duty truck. If I put $2k into modifying the truck I void the warranty and it would take 100k miles to recover the $2k with a 15% improvement in mileage.

With the older trucks tuners could improve MPG but with the LML I get better mileage than these older trucks and more power so why bother?

Elk, Thank you for your feedback. After putting 550 more miles (2900 total so far) on it these last two days. I'm starting to notice an increase in mpg. Although slight, but an increase in my miles per gallon. I "enjoyed" the heck out of my 2500 4x4 these last two days. Much like Bruce Willis enjoys blowing s*** up in his Diehard movies.

if/when I start to get 19mpg like yourself, I'll be a happy camper.
