Also, they don't have any temp sensors on the exhaust or in the head that would even let them infer what temperatures I was seeing in the combustion chamber. I do agree. It's likely a melted piston. But from what I see, there is no PROOF of anything. Just a couple symptoms and a slick section of interstate. You should probably know, I'm a mechanical engineer who plays with and builds cars and trucks for a living. Please, correct me if I'm wrong.
There is a checksum value that shows flashing in the ECM.

Spray pattern on pistons from injectors are a sign.

The torque table IIRC is directly fed from a value from a tune table, but I'm not 100% sure.

If you change ECM / TCM, then they hit you on the re-gen count compared to hours / mileage.

GM has figured out how to lock this all down trying to minimize their warranty costs. I 100% agree with everybody though, we should have an option to buy a truck without warranty.

I have been absolutely up front with GM from the start. No hiding anything. We all know I flashed the ECM a bunch of times. They saw all the parts I have on it and I even told them what I did with it and how I tuned it. I don't care that they know I screwed around in there, I shared all that. Minimizing the warranty costs is good, but not if it is done at the expense of customer rights.

I plan on building one heck of an engine from the ground up when this is all done. I'll take the good parts of this one and improve/strengthen wherever I can. I was just hoping to wait a few more years before I did it. It seems to me that GM is currently breaking the law that was written to protect aftermarket suppliers and customers by not proving that I killed it. Why not at least poke around a little bit and see if I can get some satisfaction out of this. If it won't help me, it may help the next guy.

The biggest flaw with that law is that none of us have the $$ to fight GM if we're right and they are wrong.

Bingo... Hopefully, I'll be able to get their attention without too much $. I have a feeling this is going to turn into more of a public service thing than anything that will help me out personally. If nothing else, it's fun to poke at the big guy once in a while and see what comes of it. If I can make the right people squirm, maybe they'll send some $ my way to get me to go away.

You broke federal law by running that truck on the street ( not to mention the contract you put your signature on), I highly doubt your making GM squirm one bit. You think GM should pay a tech hundreds of dollars to find out exatly what you intentinaly ed up ? Dont hold your breath , you loose.

If it is internally in the engine I don't see what GM has to prove really... Anything at all in the motor that let go even if its the smallest stupidest thing that had nothing to do with tunning all GM has to say is that part that failed was not built for that kind of power.
Don't waist your money on lawyers and court fees, your not gonna win this.

Sorry I do feel really bad about truck, I think this is really gonna hurt

That sucks man. Order one of those new Banks motors. LML block with everything else LMM. Comes with everything you need I think.

Yeah that would hurt blowing up a brand new truck. I have heard water meth can be dangerous if not at the correct mixture. I would be curious as well to see what exactly happened internally. You said the EGTs weren't hot at all?

Water meth causes high cylinder pressures which you won't really see on the egt probe.

Hope it all works out but I wouldn't waste your time with gm. It's not their fault and they shouldn't have to pay for anything IMO.

Right, I meant in general. Not blaming the meth injection. I was just curious what the exhaust temps were when it let go, if he remembers.
