I wouldn't take it to court. I'm sure the first thing the judge will ask is why are you using an illegal exhaust system?? Removing DPF for use other than sanctioned racing is illegal. Stupid, yes. But the law is the law.
I def feel you're pain though!

What I see here is that you altered your powertrain (ecm programming, emissions deletions, installed power adders), and in the warranty book it clearly states that the powertrain warranty will be void if any non-factory approved changes are made (my words, but saying the same thing).

GM is not going to do a teardown at their expense - whatever they find (even it their part failed) they will say that the changes you made to the truck caused the failure. You will then have to pay for the time involved in the teardown. You know you voided the powertrain as soon as you plugged the programmer into the socket.

Then if you go to court, as it was said already, removal of the emissions equipment is a federal offense - you will dinged with a minimum of a $10,000 fine for that (and maybe prison to set an example), so you're already in the hole.

I think trying to get GM to do anything is an exercise in futility since you altered your powertrain from stock, they are not going to do anything on their nickel.

You are a mechanic, chalk this up to experience, do the teardown yourself, find out what failed - you're pretty sure it was a piston, if it was, you know that it was probably because of the times you ran your programming a little hotter and/or got on it a little harder. If it died when you were getting on it you could say it was because of the changes you did, but since you were just cruising along and it died, now it's GM's fault? Maybe your hot-rodding weakened the piston or related hardware and it just took time to fail?

You said that you've got other vehicles to drive, rebuild the engine, put in some heavy duty parts, make it better, faster, stronger, (sounds like a TV program) and make this engine a monster.

Good luck.

i wanna know how you tuned for the meth??? because i know on turbo gas car it must be tuned for the meth.. if not the air fuel ratio will be way off and the cylinders will detonate!! and this sounds like what happened with your truck because the mini-max doesn't have any tunes for meth!

My piston cracked while the cruise was set at 75mph. They almost never fail while being ran hard.

530 rwhp for 3 years

Mahle Motorsport Race Cast are the best replacement if you're buying new. LB7 pistons are good too, if you can get them for cheap or free. I wouldnt waste my money buying brand new LB7/LLY pistons though. You can get the Mahle Race for about 300 more bucks and they come with rings and pins.

Almost. Mine went at 4200 rpms in 4th gear on my big tune getting on the interstate. It was a ticking time bomb though it was tuned for 160k miles.
