Does anyone know if it is possible to disable the hill start assist feature on my 2016 GMC LML? No options for it in the DIC and dealer said they didn't know.
It's particularly annoying in reverse, especially when backing up my driveway. It seems to hold the brake longer and not release as soon as I hit the accelerator. The whole thing is a solution to a problem that didn't exist IMO.
Yeah I could see that being annoying. For me though it is really nice as my driveway is sloped and when I stop to get the mail it is nice to have it catch. Also nice if you are in somewhere like Seattle and at a stop light on one of the hills. My wife has a new Camaro now, but she had a Subaru Outback before with Hill Assist, but it was controlled by a button on the dash, so you could at least disable it if you didn't want to use it. Would be nice if GM would have done the same or at least made it somewhat easy to do via the wheel controls.
I use to live on a hill, backed trailers up and down it countless times.
Get over it. It's your only option.
