As far as I know all the soft roll ups you can open with out the tailgate being down. Your best bet would be a topper or a hard tonneau. As far as soft tonneaus, I have an extang classic platinum that I have had for the past almost 4 years and it has been good. Easy to roll up and put on within a few minutes. I have used it the whole time in alaska, but I go by the out of site, out of mind mentality. I have left stuff in my bed and guess I have been lucky or had a lot of honest people around.
