| My personal experience with the D-max is limited (Other then teardown) but what I saw will never lead me to turn up my tuner. When I was there I worked on and dynoed the graint 6H engine.
What I have seen mostly were broken pistons and bend rods. In some of the engines the piston would be broke in two pieces but still connected to the rod. I saw alot scuffs in all the bores because the tops of the pistons scrapin the sides.
The duramax failure rate is really out standing. For every 1,000,000 units the failure rate was only .5%
