I've got a stock 08 Chev 2500HD Extended cab 6.5ft short box and am getting ready to put a S&B intake kit on it. I called my dealer to ask what else I could do without voiding the warranty and he told me anything other that an intake kit would void the warranty. I know this is false because after reading a couple other posts on this topic I googled the Magnusson whatever Act and it does a pretty good job of explaining the details. But now I'm still kind of leary about doing my next step of a tuner and eventually an exhaust. I don't need the hassle and my wife isn't a legal eagle! I want mileage not speed performance as I tow a 13-14,000# 5th wheel and get about 10.5mpg @ 65-70MPH. I only have 1500 miles on it now so when can I expect the natural increase with break-in? Any recommendations for my needs?

Have fun working your legal expenses off!
Thanks, I do appreciate the support! And I will have fun! Normally I would not hesitate to change to a better exhaust system. They are great for lowering your egt's when you are towing. Your new 08' has got the filter on it and has about 4-6 sensors pluged into it. Myself, I am not sure who is making a system for it yet that is legal. The new Lmm has to be able to smog check. The best thing you can do to any truck is make it breath better. You will lower exhaust temp. and get better mileage. All the diesels I have had seem to loosen up a little anywhere from 6-10k miles and you will see a boost in your fuel mileage. As far as a tuner, if you want a nice improvement I would look at the Superchips Flashpack. This comes with a 2 year powertrain warranty. They are the only ones I know of to offer this. One of the nice things about it is upgradable or for a download of a custom application with a USB plug into your computer at home. Remember, it will show up on your computer in your truck when you go in for service. You see what I am going through and I didn't even have one! As far as the Magnuson Moss Warranty Act, It is very self explainatory. This case started from a case that Ford lost in the courts when they tried to completely block a warranty on a customer because of something simple he did to his truck that had nothing to do with the failure on the vehicle. The judge ruled in favor of the consumer. They have to be able to prove beyond all reasonable doubt that even if you did now or before have a said aftermarket product on the vehicle, that it did beyond all reasonable doubt cause the said failure. They could not block the warranty on the complete vehicle.
