There is a way to check for leaks. Get a can of starting fluid and with the truck runing spray A SMALL AMOUNT of starting fluid around all the connections. If theres a leak the idle on the truck will raise.
Another thing to look at. I also just recently heard the older duramax's have a peace of metal that rubs through the intercooler tube that runs along the front frame. | This will work on a gas engine because they have vacuum in the manifold-- these trucks do not have vacuum, so this will test not work-- unless you have a BIG hole to spray the starting fluid in. However it is very bad practice  to use any starting fluid on these engines-- could cause an explosion from the heaters or even worst-- damage the internal parts of the engine.
The boots to the inter cooler get oil soaked from the PVC system and will slip --check the boots and clamps.
