Please help an ignorant 6.2 owner

E-Bay scares me but for that kind of savings I might give it a try with postal money order

Wont be doing anything for awhile though m trying to get a shed finished before I start classes and tuesday the scaffolding gave way and I put a nail through my foot.

I found a local company that will sell me a rebuilt pump with a 1 year, I believe, guarantee for $265. That's about the best I have found so far

I am having a little trouble removing the pump though.

Is it necessary to remove the intake to get to the pump?

I am assuming that it is the pump because I am gettingno fuel past it when I loosen the fuel connections

I remember back when my 82 was done, the manifold did not come off. I will try to remember if there were any special tricks, right now I dont think there were any issues with getting the pump off, other than the bottom of the three bolts holding the pump on was difficult to get to.

Best of my recolection the pump had a "slotted" drive that would only go in one way, kind of like a giant flat tip screwdriver blade.

Let me think about it a little and I will get back to you.

BTW, that price sounds pretty good to me!

I can get to the top line easy enough but I'm not sure about the others

I remember now that the mechanic used a wrench with a "bent" end.

It looked like a regular open end wrench, with the end bent between 90 and 180 degrees.

Makes sense. If I can't pick one up at PepBoys I'll head over to my buddy with that metal reforming tool

Once on a similar project, I heated up a cheap 9/16 wrench with a torch and applied the appropriate bend. The wrench did not want to bend that far, it cracked in places, so I had to weld up the crack, but it did work fine.
