First Post... Swiss Cheese Air Box Question

Hi all, my first post in the new forum

. I just bought my first diesel a week ago (96 K2500 6.5L TD) and am very happy with it so far. I have been reading up on some of the things that can go wrong with the motor, and pretty much have no idea what any of it is

lol, not that I'm dumb

, but I am just new to diesels. Only thing I've noticed so far is when my fuel gauge is down to 1/8 tank, the truck will just die going down the road. It will start back up no prob. I figure the gauge is just off a little. Anyways, I have seen a lot of people saying to "Swiss Cheese" the air box to get more flow, does this mean what I think? drilling holes in the stock box and calling it good? Sorry for the long post, just wanted to intro. myself.

Welcome to the forum!!!! How many miles on this puppy? Sorry I cant help with this cuz I am dumb when it comes to the 6.5s. Someone will chime in soon who knows what they're talkin about

And don't worry, we were all new to the once...

Yeah, cut a hole in the front or side of the air box to get more air, not too big, you do not want to compromise the strength of the box, but it will help you get cooler air as well...

that's what I thought it meant, but wasn't sure... truck's only got 130k on it, so hopefully there is a lot of life left in her. thanks for the info.
