| You usually reset the tranny to allow it to adjust to a new power level produced by the engine. It usually takes the alli about 30 to 50 mi. to relearn the new power produced by the engine if it is reset. If you are able to reset the tranny it just allows it adjust faster than if you just re-adjust power levels and drive off. This could potentially be harder on the trans as it tries to adapt to the new power. It will basically change the line pressure and shift points and firmness to accomodate the new power. If you can reset it I would do it, otherwise just drive easy on it for the first 75-100mi. and it will adapt, also make sure the driving you do is varied i.e. lots of stop and go etc.
