Newbie question

Just got my new to me 06 LBZ and I have a new love!

My question deals with the EGR blocker and I want to know if I can go ahead and install it without a programmer. The truck is FE9 standards. I do plan to get a PPE programmer, but would really like to stop "choking" with bad air.

Has anyone done this with an FE9 and if so, were any codes or lights thrown at all?

The only mods I have done are re-route the PCV and open up the stock air box.

Future mods planned are exhaust, PPE and gauges. I will keep the programming pretty mild, at least that is my intent!
