Unhappy 2001 won't crank replaced batteries, what now?

We have a 2001 2500hd Duramax. Pulled on to highway low on fuel. Truck died. Cranked a couple of times then just click. Took out batteries and had them checked. Both were bad. Replaced them but still nothing. Have been told everything from locked up motor and vapor lock to starter and ECM. Please help! We are 850 miles from home!!

Mr Obvious: "Did you ever get fuel?" "Prime it?"

Does it even turn over?

It does not turn over. It has ran out of fuel before towing our RV I know how to prime, etc.

Are you sure the new batteries you bought were fully charged? I bought two marine batteries, put them in trailered it to the lake only to find both were not charged enough to start the motor...
