Advice needed for front end problems

I just replaced my driver's side front hub because the original had about 1/4 inch of play at the edge of the tire. I replaced the hub and have been listening to my truck just to be safe, and I have what sounds like a bad bearing on the same side. It sounds like either that or like brakes are metal on metal. It does it at between 25 and 30 mph. You can hear it best with the windows up. I have inspected the brakes and the pads look great. Lots of life left. There are no obvious signs of odd wear on the disc or pads. I rotated the tires and the noise stays on the driver's front. The tires only have 5,000 miles on them. I don't want to just start throwing money at this until it goes away. I was wondering what kind of adverse affects it could have on that wheel's disc, pads, etc. if you were driving for a while with that kind of play in the bearing and didn't know it. I mean when that hub is wiggling around like that, the disc has got to be moving around in the caliper right? FYI, Never took this truck off road. 4x4 was just to pull the boat out at the launch on occasion when it was slippery. Just changed all the fluids in the transfer case and front axle(looked fine). What would you do next????
Thanks

Did you look to see if the wear indicator tab was bent from being bumped during the wheel hub change, or a dust shield bent? Also that your slider surface has lube? Ckeck the simple stuff first, Wade.

if you over tighten the wheel hub nut you could have crushed the bearings

155 ft lbs was what I used. At least that's what the torque wrench I used was set to.
Thanks

No, I didn't. I'm hoping I got a bad hub. The noise didn't start until then.
thanks
