Truck Shut off, Wont Start Back UP!

So, I took a trip to the store the other day, and when I got there, put my truck in park and before I could shut it off it went dead. So I tired to start it back, and it just turns, but never starts. Had it towed to the mechanic, and just wondering what it could be.... guessing the fuel system in some way...but idk, just bough the truck about two weeks ago, and previous owner said he changed fuel filter every 10,000 miles, truck has 93,000 on it now, and is due for an oil change. Oh, and for about the last week it has been surging at idle... didn't know if that had anything to with it... Any help is greatly appreciated... and no lights come on either...

Is it still at the shop?

3K isn't a whole lot of miles on a filter, but sometimes people aren't honest when it comes to them either selling a vehicle or not selling it.

But you could have just got some bad diesel somewhere and it clogged it up. After it died did you try and prime it by hand before starting it?

True on the selling, not selling thing, i have a tendency to believe it though, cause the truck is super clean... no dents, dings, stains anytning, no mud underneath, it was well taken care of... And no, don't have much experience with this truck, and couldn't find where to prime it? maybe i was looking in the wrong place, on the driver's side rail? and yes it's still at the shop, waiting to hear what the verdict is??? they initially thought fuel pump...

If you look under the hood. The filter and assembly will be on the passenger side right by the battery there.

At the top of the filter assembly, you will see round button per say. I would say it is about as big as a silver dollar in circumfrance. Sometimes some people just lose prime.

Give that button a few pumps and try and start her.

also we don't have an intank/inline fuel pump. It is on the motor (also know as the CP3). But with that many miles I wouldn't think it would have gone bad.

Inspect the FICM harness at the alternator for shorts and wear-through. The harness is tied down with a zip tie, gets cut and shorts by contact with the sharp corner of the bracket.

Also check the fuses!

06 wont start

Last week, i pulled my truck out of the garage and it just stalled. I tried to restart but it only turned over, like a gas engine without fuel or spark. I had it towed to the dealer and they had it for a day and ran down the batteries and reprimed and it started. When I picked it up they told me they couldn't locate the problem and it seemed fine now. I drove it home and it sat in my driveway for about 4 hours. When I went to pull it in the garage, guess what? Same problem. Started for about 10 seconds then died and wouldn't restart. I primed the engine and it started and I took it back to the dealer and told them it would stay until they located the problem. Several hours later they called back and said they found a dealership notice that the fuel filter housing developes a small crack allowing it to suck air and lose prime. This is a dealer warranty issue and they installed a new fuel filter housing and the problem seems to be ok. I will evaluate it for a few days and if fixed it shouldn't lose prime. There is a $100.00 deductible for the repair but compared to $600.00 originally quoted I was pleased. Anybody else have this issue? P.S. They will tell you the housing is on back order and at least 4 week delay in getting parts. They located one in an afternoon from another dealer who would let it go.....FYI
