Loud noise, no power

I have had this intermintent problem since truck was new. GMC Dealer doesn't know what's wrong, says "no codes". Engine will be running fine, then just sounding very loud (like turbo turned off and engine tring to keep up, loss of power, no change in RPM. Happens whether I'm towing 5th wheel or unloaded. Hot or cold.

Mileage goes down. This doesn't happen all the time, but a real shocker when towing uphill. Changed fuel filter at 18,000 miles and last week again, present mileage is 21,400.

Anyone have any thoughts?

Try a fuel additive every time you fill up. Yeah I know it sucks but it has helped mine. I use to have the same problem without the noise. Now I use howe's or some other additive with no problems.

I am unclear reading your post. You DO or DONOT have a loss of power when this happens?

Does the truck run the same, just loud?

I have read where the vanes in the turbo stick...that could cause your problem. I'm not sure how to check it though.

It could be blowing the EGR open.
