I just had one battery replaced as it was leaking (!) but I did not replace the other one.

You should always replace them in pairs. That way when the other one goes it doesn't kill the new one.

that sounds like the same problem ive been having but i have a western performance chip , 4 inch turbo back exaust and a banks ram air intake and 131k on my 03

Replaced the fuel filter and the problem is gone. All the codes are gone too. Should have done that maaaany kms ago.

Hey ob_1jr how many times do you answer that same question for newbies such as myself. After you answered it for me I noticed that you had answered for many others. Thanks. I am going to stay on top of that from now on. It is nice to have my quick (relatively) truck back.

I don't keep track, but when I was new on other forums, I had some real newby questions too. Sometimes the simplest things are overlooked or not known to be looked at. That is why I enjoy these forums, you can get answers to just about any questions. This forum is still pretty new, so there isn't a whole lot you can do a search on. Besides, everybody has there own way to describe the same problem.
