Removed oil filter for engine flush and oil is GREEN!

Doing the first oil change on this truck have owned for approx 2,500 miles and oil was clean when i bought it on the dipstick previous owner sai he changed oil really recently.

Well here I am having the time to swap all the fluids in the truck and remove the oil filter and the oil is green.

So there isnt a real strong diesel odor. 135K stock injectors but I bought it and the water pump got done the day i bought it as i found a leak. The local diesel shop replaced water pump / previous owner picked up the bill and the shop switched to the green coolant from the red dex cool stuff.

Coolant level seems to be ok. Not at the cold full but I have been driving it all day.

In my pre purchase they did add dye to the oil to test for leaks. Could they have used green dye?

I was going to engine fluch and add amsoil full syn but dont want to add expensive oil if I have a problem. Should I just get a few gallons of Rotella T and go from there?

Any input?

Thanks

Sounds like and injector cup cracked. While you are their put in a set of injectors. Either that or cracked head/blown head gasket.

Any chance you have a clean catch of some of it to send in for analysis? An OA might be a good idea with your miles anyway before making the big switch.

If its coolant, did you drain all of it. water sinks to the bottom. If you have coolant in your oil. You can drain some into a clear cup let it sit overnight and by morning the water/coolant will make its way to the bottom of the cup.

All I did is remove the oil filter that was on it and drained some oil into a cup via my fumoto valve. i spun a new oil filter back on and went to flushing the diffs etc.....

The oil in the cup has been sitting for a couple hours now and its not seperated. just has a green color to it. It seems a little bright to be diesel though. Looks like I get to call the place that did the water pump because they introduced green coolant into the system from the red dex cool and if its not fuel then it has to be coolant.

Wouldnt I notice a blown head gasket? No smoke, no temp issues, fuel economy is 17.5 apporox hand calc mixed.

Truck seems to run and drive just fine.

I would def send in a sample for analysis. Or track down the people that did the test and ask what the dye was they put in the oil. If in doubt I would use the Rotella and wiat on the syn until you get answers.

Sounds like dye to me. If they put more than they should have in, the oil will change colors

Ok so I broke out the black light tonight and it looks like the predator dropped the oil filter. This makes me feel much much better as I believe its dye. The dipstick lights up as well.....HOWEVER on the shelf in the garage the coolant drained from one of the bikes also is vivid green, where the stuff out fo the crankcase on the 03 GMC seems more painted yellow. Could it be from coolant oil dilution?

My coolant level looks ok though.....

I want to believe its just dye but I suppose I should send in an oil sample just to be sure.
