I put gas in my 2003 duramax at a rate of 24 gal. gas to 6-7 gal. diesel, then drove it for 20 or so miles until it started pinging. After about 10 seconds of pinging I shut it off, pulled over and had it towed home. What next ? Any Help is greatly appreciated. Thanks, J.P.
It is good that you shut it off and did not run it anymore--
I would do as stated above and add about a cup of 2 cycle oil to the new fuel filter before you prime it, and a couple quarts to the in tank diesel after you drain the tank-- the oil will help lube everything. It may smoke a little, but that may save your injectors and engine.
Keep your fingers crossed-- and maybe there will not be any damage.
This is not the first time someone has done this-- and more will do it in the future.

I always remove the fuel lines at the fuel filter and install a fuel pump to suck all the fuel out of the tank. When you go to restart it will knock and sound HORRIBLE for about 5 seconds and then run ok.
Oh also after you suck all the fuel out of the tank make sure you refill your tank with at least 15 gallons of diesel, This way any left over gas in the tank that you could not get out it will deluit it enough to run ok.
