both connections are good. what exactly is the nsbu switch? wouldnt the trans being stuck in 2nd gear be because of limp home mode?
Search is your friend!-- The NSBU switch is attached to the shift linkage on the left side of the transmission. It tells the TCM what gear the shift lever is in.
When it gets confused, it shows "Range Shift Inhibited" on the DIC display, and the trans goes "Limp". This might not be all the problem, but a great place to start because they are known to go bad. v

ok so im gonna call myself an idiot. the plug to the range shift wasnt in ALL the way causing a problem. so after that i decided to check all the plugs by un plugging them and checking the pins and re connecting them. i forgot to plug in the MAIN HARNESS TO THE TRANS! oops.... so that is all fixed. then the trans worked perfect except when down shifting like coming to a stop sign was very VERY hard sometimes making the tires squeel.... after driving about 50 miles it fixed itself..... never threw anymore codes except for this morning showing P0404. so theres another problem i guess...
the other thing is that the instrument cluster gauges are all messed up. GM said that i would need a new cluster to fix this and that they are 400 and have to be programmed by a tech II. does anyone know if i got a cluster from another truck in a junk yard still being a vin 1 if it would work? or are the clusters programmed to the pcm? any help is greatly appreciated
The only reason you need to have the cluster programmed is so that the mileage will be right IIRC. It would be a huge fine if you put in a cluster with lower mileage than your actual truck and then sell it for that.....then have someone find out you swapped it. They could come after you. But, you can probably get an aftermarket one on e-bay for quite a bit cheaper....or if you could find a decent one in the junk yard.

yes its cali vehicle. what exactly is wrong with the EGR though? also MIL light wont come on in this cluster. when im looking for a cluster what is the years i need to go after? anything with lb7 or do i need to go with 03-04.5 cause of the new cluster style? is there anyway to flash the cluster without the techII?
