Need suggestions

Hey guys... yesterday my truck seemed to be running a little odd. Pulled the fuel filter off to put a new one on, it was pretty much full of gasoline. Seems either Pilot had someone put gasoline in their diesel tank at the fuel station, or someone dumped gas in my tank at my house. In either case it couldn't have been a whole lot because there is diesel in my tank still, i've added a half a quart of 2 stroke oil as well as diesel treatment. I've got half a tank left. Right now it runs fine... I don't have any check engine lights... however it is idling high for some reason, just under 1000 RPM instead of around 600. Any thoughts? My DSP5 seems to still be working switching between tunes.

It probably has high idle because the gas-- I suggest you add another quart of 2 cycle-- gas can really damage the system because it lacks lubrication.

The gas should have mixed with the diesel and just have a gas smell to it. No way to tell how much gas in in the system.

You should consider draining the tank and adding clean diesel.

Get a jug of Howes diesel treatment. It will add lubrication. You'll only need to dump about 1/4-1/3 of it in.

You also might consider a locking fuel cap.Since you are not sure if the "problem gas" came from the station or if someone tried to be "funny". First thing I did after purchasing my truck was buy a locking gas cap. I wasn't worried about someone stealing the diesel, but from putting contaminants in the tank.

X2 me to! To easy to dump something in the tank and cause BIG $$$$. Also I have the only key in a special place-- and only "I" put the fuel in! I almost put gas in once-- the damn cover on the nozzle had a green boot.

Yeah well I filled up put about 12-13 gallons of good diesel in it... it's still got the same symptoms after about 30 miles. It has a louder "diesel" sound, it's idling high. No check engine lights and it seems to have "most" of its power. I had a couple thoughts, I lost an injector... but I'm not "making any oil, and the oil doesn't smell like diesel. I thought maybe I popped a head gasket, the cooling system is not "pressurizing" beyond normal pressure. With the truck hot I can still squeeze the radiator hose semi-easily, its not rock hard at all. I think i'll just stop by a chevy dealer and get someone to hook it up to a Tech 2 and have the monitor everything and see if that can point me somewhere.

You can also go by autoZone or other Parts store and let them scan it...sounds like you just got to get rid of the "bad stuff" in your tank.

Most likely, but autozone all they can do is read codes, they can't monitor everything live like a Tech 2 will. I'll keep driving it over the weekend and see if it improves at all.

Once you're good for Diesel only in the tank, I'd change the filter again and add a Diesel treatment to the fuel.
