I drove to work today and had no problems. Got to the shop, put it in park, opened the bay door and put it back in gear and it wouldn't come out of first. Turned it off and it wouldn't move in Drive or Reverse and it said " Range Shift Inhibited". Tried it later and it moved when in Drive and Reverse and then all of a sudden it started to "lurch" forward, like something was twisting inside the trans. Turned it off and started it again about 10 minutes later and it is running/driving like it never happened. Drove it to a trans shop and he hasn't gotten back to me yet. Any ideas?

Its probably the shift actuator on the side of the trans. My buddys truck did the ame thing when he was plowing with his allison.

I got my trans wa hoooooo!
.
I was having a similar issue last week. I changed the both trans filters and fluid, fuel filter, NSBU switch and nothing changed. I ended up having to change out the shift cables because they were stretched and the adjustment was all froze up.
