01 LB7 won't start...

I was driving down the highway at about 70mph, when all of the sudden it felt like the speed limiter kicked in, and lost power. The SES light came on. Pulled over, everything seemed fine. I continued on my trip, but the truck would not go over 55mph.
I took it to the dealer. Two codes came on...
P0101 MAF SENSOR PERFORMANCE
P0234 TURBO CHARGER ENG OVER BOOST.
They recommended to replace the fuel filter, so I did. I drove off, and about 25 miles after the same problems came back up. This time the truck would not start, so I had to tow it to the dealer. The same two codes came up.
This time, they found the TURBO WASTE GATE STUCK and they recommend replacing the turbocharger.
They quoted me at $3490+tax so of course I declined. Right now the truck is over my house, and don't know what to do.

So, I guess what I am asking is the dealer's claim legit? Based on the codes and the symptoms...
And if they are, where could I buy a used turbo for my LB7? Or a cheaper new unit...

Thanks in advance,

Adrian

If the waste gate on the truck sticks open it will not kill the truck its self. There will be another problem. Is this truck bone stock what mods are done. That will kinda help narrow things down. Also pop your hood Check on the bottom of your fuel filter there is a Water fuel seperater be sure u did not screw that in there cross thread. Are u saying the truck is just dieing on you. Or u shut it off and it wont crank again. I beilve crank it up diesel has stock lb7 turbos for right around 300 dollars.

On a side note clean your MAF sensor it can do some weird things when its dirty

Thanks, will do that. Could I replace just the waste gate? the dealer said it has to be together with the turbo...that it cannot be rebuilt...a bunch of bs, i guess

The dealer said the waste gate is stuck open, and that's why it won't start.
The truck is bone stock. It did not just die on me, but I shut if off and could not start it again.
Thanks a lot for the info, and I will definetly clean the MAF tomorrow.

Thats the first time i have heard of a truck not cranking if Waist gate is stuck. If thats the case pop your hood take the line off the waste gate and hold your finger over it. That will allow no pressure to escape and motor should fire up. IMHO if u are going to keep your truck bone stock just unplug waist gate complety and dont run it. You will be fine doing that just do not add any power adders to your truck. And if u do put a boost gauge in it.

May i add when u pull the lines off the waist gate u will still have to either pinch them off or cap them. Sometimes i forget to add that part
