01 LB7 Sluggish Take Off

Hello I'm new here but here goes, I have an 01 Silverado 2500 HD Duramax with the Allison 5 speed. It has an AEM Brute Force Intake, Banks Dual 4" monster exhaust, and a Banks Six Gun Tuner with the PDA. I went out to pull a buddies jeep out of the mud last weekend and encountered some very wet/sloppy conditions, the truck handled it all fine, my air filter got wet so of course she smoked a little for a few seconds and then all was fine. I parked the truck till I could get around to cleaning it and when I did start driving it again it was real sluggish on take off juntil the turbo boost came up then look off like normal, today I dumped some STP diesel treatment in with a fresh tank of fuel and it has improved a little bit but is still not the same, she isnt smoking or doing anything out of the ordinary other than the sluggish take off till boost comes up does anybody have any idea's? Any help would be much appreciated I love my truck and it's killing me that somethings wrong and I cant diagnose it. Dirty fuel filter maybe?

Silvarado, You might also check the (is it MAS or MAF) mass air flow sensor if its not the filter, might have fouled the sensor if some of it got through the filter.

I cleaned the sensor with carb and choke cleaner (buddy said it would work) think the cleaner may have screwed it up?

Is your filter a throw away or reuseable like K&N. If its a throw away, least expensive first is replace air filter. I don't have much experience with cleaning MAF sensor with choke/ or carb cleaner but it could have damaged it, did the sluggish ness come right after pulling out or after cleaning sensor. Just some suggestions.

It was right after cleaning it however I didnt really drive it after I got it home so I didnt notice anything, my air filter is a AEM dry synthetic filter so I washed that out let it dry and reinstalled it, however she isnt throwing any MAF codes so probably fuel filter then?

How many miles on fuel filter? I know GM say 15000 on fuel filter, yet most on here change either every second oil change dependent on change frequency or every oil change if longer than 6000 miles on change. Could have gotten fuel with more contaminants or if started running Soy or other bio diesel blend after only having run strictly petroleum diesel can cause clean out of deposits or other junk in fuel tank/system causing fuel filter to plug. Just like when people run strictly unleaded gas than change to ethanol after log time, it cleans fuel tank and plugs filters.

The common rail injector systems work on such tight tolerances that it is very easy to contaminate an injector or the pump. For the next couple of tanks run a very good additive through it. We use the Stanadine Performance formula. That should get most of the stuff out for you. Don't use the carb cleaner again. It can leave a residue that effects the operation of that sensor. Use a good electrical contact cleaner that doesn't leave a residue.
