water pump maham

loosing about a gallon of water for every 30 minutes of driving and water is coming from the water pump area not sure exactly were. how difficult is a water puymp to change and an 01 duramax?

Well, I never replaced one on a diesel but I have on gassers. Its not going to be easy but it not terribly to difficult. Get a repair manual and buy a good water pump. Not Advance or Autozone(remaned garbage). Try Napa or GM, you only want to do it once.

yea i've replace a few chevy 350 and 327 water pumps but i looked at this one and it's foreign to me looks like i have to take of my crank damper. not to sure yet but i'm goin get a manual and i will find out. thanks.

Pain on the dmax for sure,not cheap either,my friend's went out and he caught hell.One important thing is to actually put only clean fresh water/coolant mix back in as contamination can present probs,tedious but not impossible...

You'll need a 1 7/16 socket to loosen bolt for harmon balancer,get a big,meaty breaker bar too,like a 3/4,you'll need to also keep flywheel from turning,maybe ya can jam flywheel to hold it or rent a tool,if ya drink have plenty of on hand,don't forget to torque to spec after done..GOOD LUCK!!!
