2006 EMS vehicle

Hi:
Operate a municipal Ambulance Service. Have traditionally used Fords however changed to Chevy 1 ton duramax with Alison Tr. in 2006. Unit has 60000 km. On patient transfer to Calgary from Wainwright, AB, (400 km) it suddenly lost power and died. Had to call another ambulance to complete the transfer. This unit also used for emergency calls. You can see why this is totally intolerable. Drove down with lowbed and loaded the unit and is now waiting a diagnosis at dealer for Monday morning. What happened here???

Unit will start and run now that it has sat for a few hours. However I cannot use it as it now is no longer a dependable vehicle. A person's life may be at risk if this happens again.

Sounds like a dirty fuel filter causing a p0087 code to seet the truck to limp mode, I say no more than 10,000miles on a fuel filter, I change mine @ 7,000 just to be on the safe side!!! We run a duramax amnulance here as well and they wont listen to me about changing the filter and this will happen to them as well one day im sure!

Thank you 05_LLY. I certainly hope that is all that is causing the unit to go into limp mode. Tomorrow will tell.

I agree on the fuel filter. It don't take much at all for them to be dirty enough to put it into limp mode.

Most likely a fuel filter. Make sure it is changed when the computer tells you. Basically every 11000 - 16000 km.(7-10000 miles) I have owned the others and this has been the most reliable truck I have ever owned.Sorry for the trouble and good luck.
