I need suggestions

As posted in another part of this forum, my Edge evolution failed during a reprogram of my truck, and the truck would not turn over. It is like the key is not turned on. The Evolution didn't know the key was turned on either. I removed the Evolution, had the dealer remove my PCM, and I sent my PCM off to Edge. They reprogrammed it back to stock, said it was fine, and sent it back. I took it to the dealer, and they still cannot get the engine to turn over. As a matter fact, they say that their code reader cannot communicate with the PCM. The radio, windows, OnStar, and everything else seem to work as usual. Any sugesstions that I can take to the dealer?

Did you try unplugging the tuner completely? Take the harness connectors apart and make sure none of the pins are folded over or bent.

My buddy bought a duramax with a edge already in it but it was unpluged. He pluged it in and the truck would crank but not start. Here one if the connectors wasnt tight and caused problems.

Worse case scenerio would be the edge fried the ECM.

I have taken the tuner out, and it is back with Edge. The ECM was sent to Edge, and they say it is fine and ready to go. I will suggest to the dealer that they check the pins. When I tried to start it, there is no sound at all.

Man the dealer should be able to figure it out. I mean it could be someting stupid a broken wire or a bad ignition. Could be not even related to the edge.

Today I got a notice from GM that my truck had been maunfactured with a defective program that could damage the memory in the ECM, and cause my truck not to start or turn over. When I took the letter to the dealer, I was told that they got that notice about two weeks ago. Nobody ever mentioned that to me. So I suggested that maybe it is a GM problem, and not an Edge problem.

Problem solved

The dealer has installed a new ECM, and my truck is running fine. Edge is paying all cost associated with the problem, except my near nervous breakdown.

I can't say enough good things about the people at Edge. I got at least one e-mail, or one phone call every working day to check on how things were going. It cost them about a $1000 when all was said and done. I'm sending the old ECM back to Edge so they can take it apart and see what the problem was. Maybe they can keep this from happening again. I wonder if this could have had anything to do with the recall on the programming error by GM???
