Truck cuts out when towing

01 2500hd chevy -- when towing toy haller (25ft) engine cuts out at 65-70mph. Does this every time i tow the camper, doesn't matter where. went to west virgina, and tennessee and had this problem all the time -- when driving at around 60 gas pedal gets real firm and if i push it more engine cuts out and goes to idle until i slow down quite a bit or restart. -- truck has hypertec programmer , extra fuel filter kit and stright through exhaust-- and runs great without trailer -- but as soon as i hook it up it wont go over 65 --- any thoughts as to why would be great --- thanks

so, when is the last time you changed your fuel filters? your pedal getting firm shouldn't be a problem....it should be doing it all the time since it is drive by wire if you have the duramax in your truck. How about the last time you changed your air filter? Any smoke when this happens? What level are you running on the hypertec and what are your RPMs at 60-65 when this happens? forgot about the drive by wire pedal just feels funny when happens -- fuel filters 3500mi ago - banks intake kit 5k ago - programmer is on level 2 ( first year programmer for duramax) -- no smoke at all - rpms i believe were at 2200 -- thanks

do you get a CEL light when this happens? I am betting that you are probably getting an overboost code or something like that. Maybe your MAF sensor needs to be cleaned. I would try to get codes downloaded to see if you have any there.

Sounds like some sort of fuel delivery problem, if not the filter then something else perhaps, wiring potentially. Not knocking the hypertech necessarily, but have not heard the best reports about it in particular. How does the truck run with stock programming?

rarely does the cel come on - i've had overboost codes in the past so i lowered the programmer to level 2 -- light has com on then off a few times since--- and Im starting to doubt the hypertec programmer---- thinking of going with a banks 6 gun speed loader that has a fuel controller built in to tuner??
